Jean Palmer’s Philosophy of Training
My passion is to help people feel better about themselves and to enhance their relationships with others. I believe that every individual has value and that if we treat others with understanding and respect, we will get that back in return. Learning how to deal effectively with others is what I’m about.
Listening is a key component, being open to hear what’s really going on in that person’s work or life. Suspending judgment is not easy but can be very helpful in seeing another person’s perspective.
When we truly listen to others, we discover what the real issues are and can then begin to make some effort in working toward improvements that will help both parties.
I believe that building trust with a group is essential. I do that by taking time initially to see that people are meeting each other and give them an idea of what will be happening.
Adults work best when they are actively involved in the training, when real life experiences are used. I give them practical help that they can use right away. Each person in the workshop is unique and has life experience that can enhance the training. I have an ability to get all participants involved in the learning while having fun.
- I help individuals and others put things in perspective and begin to see more of their strengths.
- In areas where they may need or want to improve, I help groups grow in greater understanding with each other so their work life is better and healthier.
- I provide knowledge that increases understanding about human relationships and self.
- I provide gentle encouragement and specific suggestions. People leave the training feeling like they’ve received concrete help from a caring professional.
My training has an agenda and yet I am flexible and spontaneous to meet the needs of the group.
